Major Points Discussed

  1. Okata Sylvanus presiding over the meeting welcomed everyone to NACE International Nigeria Section meeting, but he expressed his disappointment towards the low turnout of persons for the meeting even though it had being communicated early enough.

  2. Matters arising

    A. Jonas Ajoku apologized for his inability to provide the section’s secretary with the mail to contact BG technical, but promised to provide that as soon as possible.

    B. Inconsistencies with the minutes of meeting were raised, and the secretary promised to adjust as suggested

    C. James Osilama, suggested that in addition to sending of mails the organisation should also send out text messages to her membership.

    D. Obani, Chika to compile numbers and drive the sending of texts in addition to the mails.

  3. A well-articulated technical presentation was done by Ohia, Chibueze on Line Pipe Manufacturing. See the presentations page for details.
     
  4.  Discussions / Commitee report
    1. The Association would have her name as NACE Portharcourt, Nigeria Section in line with the NACE International policy.

    2. The registrations of the body should be made as soon as possible. Joseph Ofuase is the focal point for the registrations.

    3. The NACE 2016 Corrosion Conference to be held at Vancouver Convention Centre, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

    4. The organisation membership has agreed to be involved in the membership drive and hence has adopted the one-for-one methodology to raise membership

    5. Jonas Ajoku hinted that emails are not so effective in reaching persons and he also made an appeal for suggestions.

    6. The Educational Director would be coming to Nigeria by the end of the month.

  5. Agreements
    1. The sectional meeting would remain quarterly.

    2. Elections would hold on the 23rd of April, 2016.

    3. Chris Amaechi and Joseph Ofuase would be taking technical presentations for the 20th of August, 2016 and 19th of November, 2016.

    4. There would be a Technical workshop for December 8th 2016.

AOB

  • Closing address was given by Okata, Sylvanus appreciating the members who availed themselves to support the meetings but still stressed on sustainability of membership and active participation in all NACE activities by all members.
  • The motion for the adjournment for the meeting was raised by Joseph Ofuase and seconded by Nelson Chika.
  • The next NACE quarterly meeting will hold on Saturday, 23rd April, 2016.
